Berllanderi offers accomodation for four sculptors plus a newly

converted Stable Cottage which has group/family accomodation for

six people. Each has a private flat, converted from the old granary, a

private studio and use of specialist workshops.

The communal workshops have been designed to provide the

facilities needed for the traditional processes of sculpture namely

modelling and carving. There is a large stone carving studio

equipped with a range of hand and compressed air tools, gantries

and other lifting equipment. There is a fully equipped wood

workshop with a band saw, circular saw, planer/thicknesser, pillar

drill etc. There is a foundry, forge and metal working facilities. We

have specialised Cast-Iron and sand casting facilities and have a

small cupola. We pour about five times a year. All together there is

7,000 sq. feet of covered studio space as well as open courtyards

and seven acres of land.

As well as the resident sculptors, the workshop offers specific

courses during the summer period. These have ranged from portrait

modelling to iron casting and stone carving. The

workshop has also run courses for art schools from home and

overseas.

The workshop has recieved financial support from the Art Council

of Wales and the Henry Moore Foundation.
