What Is Berllanderi

Berllanderi, translated as 'Orchard of Oaks' is a seventeenth century farm complex set

in the Usk Valley. This inspirational setting offers the isolation of a retreat for practising

sculptors. The conducive environment without the distractions of the normal routine

allows artists to concentrate on new work in the privacy of their studios.

It is the intention of the workshop to have a mixed balance of disciplines to foster

debate across a range of disciplines and backgrounds. Such a combination of sculptors

might comprise for example, a sculptor executing a major commission and needing

specialist facilities, a mature sculptor seeking a different studio environment, a visiting

international artist wanting a ready made studio and base, and a younger sculptor.
